HOW IT ALL BEGAN...
Todd Somers, avid sports fan and a former Northwestern quarterback, often wondered why he had to wait in long lines at concession stands for mustard and ketchup. What a pain! Then one day, the fateful question hit him (not literally): “Why hasn’t anyone combined these two tasty condiments?”
So Todd and Ann–his wife and college sweetheart–started experimenting in their kitchen. They blended mustard and ketchup in various amounts with a children’s medicine syringe. They discovered some very interesting flavors, and for fun, named their concoction “MustKetch”. And guess who the first taste–testers were? Their own six children!
Once Todd and Ann felt they had something, Todd approached his brother Scott, a successful business professional, to see about possibly building this into a business. Scott liked the flavor of MustKetch and suggested expanding to three flavors.
The Somers brothers approached Chicago area executive chef, Charlie Baggs, owner of Charlie Baggs Culinary Innovations, with the product idea. Charlie and his team of chefs perfected a number of truly craveable flavors – MustKetch Original, MustKetch Zesty and MustKetch Smoke!
Two other key members of the team are Dan Pittard, a senior executive with a distinguished business career including a senior role at Frito Lay, recent CEO role at Rubio’s Restaurants and board positions with companies in the food and other industries, and Ron Farnum, owner of Chicago based Damen Jackson, a strategic brand and creative agency with extensive experience in the food industry.
This team is supported by the (very large!) Somers family. We only want healthy, wholesome food for our family, and we’re sure you only want wholesome food for your family too.
